Strategic Alignment Simulation

Most mid-level managers and project leaders are responsible for translating corporate and functional strategy into goals for their teams and leading their teams to achieve those goals. To do this effectively, managers must understand broader organizational strategy. They must have the analytical skills and tools to translate strategy into local goals. Managers need the communication skills to align their teams with strategy, and they must have the discipline to achieve their goals through focused execution.

In the Strategic Alignment Simulation, teams assume the role of a functional leader within a healthcare services and content delivery business. Throughout the simulation, teams must evaluate strategic project opportunities while simultaneously managing day-to-day operations. As functional leader, they need to ensure that the project opportunities they invest in support and align with the company’s strategy. Once they have selected their strategic projects, they have to deliver them within firm deadlines. To be successful, teams must build the human and process capabilities necessary to achieve both individual project and overall functional results. In addition, they must manage stakeholders across the organization, each of whom can significantly impact their ability to succeed.
